FISHING AT ASHMERE LAKES

6th April 2011

18 of us assembled at 4 o'clock to fish the four lakes. With a bag limit of 4, the more expert fishers decided to try for one from each lake in the bright evening sunshine. A tricky gusty wind made casting difficult in a few places and a number of flies were lost to the trees.
Most of the bigger fish came from the Ashmere Lake with Bob Meier catching a whopper of 9lb 6oz as our picture shows.
By 7pm most of us had our bag of 4 although one or two hardy souls fished on into the twilight.
Jean and Keith Howman provided a buffet supper complete with hot soup and some marvelous cheeses to finish. Everyone voted the evening a great success and one we hope to repeat next year.
Our pictures show some of those taking part.
