WEIRWOOD FISHERY 10th May 2011

| A fine but blustery evening found us on the banks of the reservoir from about 4pm. There was plenty of advice and help from the bailiff and the girls running the shop and cafe.
Coffee or tea was freely available to all and while about half the party opted for the boats, the remained elected to fish from the bank. The boats are magnificent and kitted out with armchairs that swivel round for the anglers. Luxury indeed. There were plenty of fish to be seen but, unfortunately, they mostly decided that the local insects were preferable to our flies although several of us managed to get into one or two. The evening finished with an excellent BBQ and we watched the local swimming club, all clad in wet suits, swim to and fro over about a 400m course. |
